How much access should we have to our coastline?
I say: the more the merrier - within reason. There are new plans to extend the South West Coastal Path from Minehead right up as far as Brean Down. It is a complicated mapping excercise. For starters there's the small matter of Hinkley Point nuclear power station. The precise route will probably provide heated debate. Natural England submitted a report on the proposed route in October 2013

We already have a chunk of the longest and loveliest national trail in this constituency in the SouthWest Coastal path. If you have never walked it - even a small part of it - then you should be ashamed of yourself. It took great patience and diplomacy to create it and keep it spick, span and popular. In fact popularity is hardly a problem. We welcome walkers. And the SouthWest Coastal Path Association - that does so much of the hard work - takes enormous pride in encouraging people.Join us at the Minehead Marker sculpture and share the views!
