There are some things about my job that provide a real buzz - and handing over large sums of money for genuine good causes is one of them. In the past few days I have been doing precisely that and playing a small part in keeping some keen sporting communities smiling too. The money comes in the shape of generous grant awards from Sport England - an organisation with a remit to help promote healthy activities for young people the length and breadth of our country. Somerset has done pretty well out of the grant pot in London's Olympic year and I was in the throng at Dunster, Wembdon and Brompton Ralph to help hand over big cheques to little organisations with huge ambitions. The money will pay for improved facilities and help get generations of young people involved in sport.
