Bogus callers

20 May, 2015 by Ian

phone scamsIf your phone rings and the caller claims to be from the local council (or the county council or the NHS) you have every right to be a cautious. Politely ask for their name and telephone number. Unfortunately not everyone is honest. Sedgemoor District council has been getting reports of calls made to residents asking for details of their “recent accident” and trying to get them to part with bank details. It may sound plausible. But don’t be fooled. Tell them, you will ring them back. Never, ever, give a stranger sensitive information. And if the phone rings with anyone claiming to be from Sedgemoor DC get a name and get it checked by dialling: 01278 435435
